The Forgiveness of Crack

"An unmarried woman continues to use crack cocaine during her pregnancy even after learning it could cause birth defects in her unborn child."  This woman should not be forgiven.  She is an irresponsible, self centered lunatic who is possibly causing her child to have a deformity.  She has the knowledge that her child could be harmed by the actions she has chosen and she still keeps doing them.  I know a woman who had a child out of wedlock that was using crack cocaine and many other drugs, and her child is now 28 years old with the mind of a 4 year old.  She still uses drugs and pays no attention to her son.  He has been through many years of being made fun of, but he doesn't know it.  His mother has made him suffer his whole life because of HER actions, and it is not fair.

  2. I agree with this. "She is and irresponsible, self-centered lunatic woman.." She may have been addicted, and it may be hard to stop, but if she cared about her baby and wasn't self-centered, she would have done everything in her power to quit the crack so her baby could be healthy. If she knows that what she is doing is seriously hurting her baby, who hasn't done anything wrong, then no, she does not deserve to be forgiven.

  3. do you realize that some drugs you cant just quit? most drugs..you have to take drugs to help you get off. yeah its definitely harmful to your child, but just quitting a drug flat out is harmful to the mother as well. the baby could turn out mentally retarded but would you rather be mental, or the mom go insane from withdraws and maybe cause harm to the baby, after its born.

  4. Elley: The baby can be taken away at birth if they think the mother will harm her newborn child. And like you said, the mother can take "drugs" to help her get off the harmful drugs. The doctor will not give you drugs to harm your baby, so therefore she can quit her drugs. She will do her baby some good and not cause any mental problems to her baby.
